Our Family Farm’s History

Our farming operation was started by Jake P. and Asta Goering (Greg’s Grandparents) in the early 1900’s at our present location, 1066 18th Avenue in McPherson County, KS. One of the favorite stories is the siren sounded that WWI was over on 11/11/1918 as Grandpa was finishing the roof on our big barn.

Greg’s dad Myron and mom Carolyn moved on the home place in 1961 when they got married. They farmed and had a cattle and hog operation. Myron taught school, retiring from McPherson Middle School while Carolyn was an registered nurse spending most her career at the McPherson Hospital and retiring from Salina Regional. She then worked another 7 years at Pine Village Retirement Community in Moundridge.

Greg joined the family operation after graduating from Kansas State University. He also managed an animal health store in Salina and then after he and Tammy married in 1989, he started his career as a territory manager for an animal health company called Norden. Currently he is a senior sales manager for Covetrus. Tammy is co-owner of McPherson Eye Care which she founded in 1989.

Greg, Tammy, Trenton, and Taylor moved to the farm in 2001 before the kids started school. The farm has grown into a diversified farming operation including wheat, dry-land and irrigated corn and beans, and grain and feed sorghum. We provide custom farm work to your specifications as well as crop share or cash rent. We are proud of our up-to date equipment and technology use. We always welcome inquiries and can provide quotes or estimates for custom work.
